Winneshiek County officials have begun working on an agreement which would rent out space in the county's Smith Building to an outside organization. County Social Services, or "CSS," provides services to Winneshiek County and 18 other counties in north central and northeast Iowa.
The agency has contacted county officials about renting space in the Smith Building. Winneshiek County Supervisors favor such an arrangement, not only because it would bring in revenue to the county, but because it would lower office space costs for an organization which the county supports financially.
The two sides have looked at space in the building which they think would work. Winneshiek County Supervisors on Monday informally endorsed the concept and called on both sides to continue their talks.
