President-elect Joe Biden has appointed 1975 Luther College graduate Michael Osterholm to a coronavirus advisory board that will help manage the nation's response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Osterholm is a member of Luther College's Board of Regents who works as the director of the Center of Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota.

Osterholm has been a specialist in pandemic preparation for decades.  His experience includes time as Minnesota's chief epidemiologist.  Osterholm has also written the book, "Deadliest Enemy: Our War Against Killer Germs."

Earlier this year, Osterholm delivered the Farwell Lecture at Luther College (virtually), telling his audience (https://www.decorahnews.com/news-stories/2020/10/26540.html) "We have a lot of work to be done and it won't be done soon."
