Two-vehicle accident causes over $14,000 of damage

The Decorah Police report two vehicles were involved in an accident Wednesday morning at 8:45.

16-year-old Grace Bachelder of Decorah was traveling east on Jefferson Street approaching the intersection of Mechanic Street while 50-year-old Kelly Frana of Calmar was southbound on Mechanic Street. Bachelder failed to obey a stop sign as she entered the intersection, and struck Frana. After the initial crash, Frana's vehicle was pushed to the left striking a street sign and a gas cooking grill.

The accident caused $8,000 of damage to Bachelder's 2018 Jeep Compass, $6,000 of damage to Frana's 2000 GMC Sierra, $500 of damage to the street sign, and $50 of damage to the Gas grill. No injuries were reported. Bachelder was cited for Failure to Obey a Stop Sign.
