Posted: Tue, Nov 3, 2020 10:33 PM

Voter turnout set a record this year in Winneshiek County. 12,409 ballots were cast, up nearly 1000 from 4 years ago.

Winneshiek County will have three new supervisors as a result of the election. In District 3, Democrat Shirley Vermace was the winner, edging Republican Julie Askelson by 63 votes. In District 4, Republican Daniel Langreck easily defeated two other candidates. In District 5, Republican Mark Vick defeated incumbent supervisor Mark Kuhn by 228 votes.

In other contests, county voters favored Donald Trump for President, Joni Ernst for US Senator, and Ashley Hinson for US Representative.

In partial results, county voters favored Republican Waylon Brown in State Senate District 26 and Republican Mike Klimesh in State Senate District 28. In State Assembly District 51, county voters favored Republican Jane Bloomingdale, while in District 55, they favored Republican Michael Bergan by 95 votes over Democrat Kayla Koether. All four legislative districts include counties other than Winneshiek County, so these results are partial.
