Polling places have a "steady" stream of voters, but fewer than normal

Decorah City Hall had the largest turnout of the city polling places as of mid-morning

Around 9,000 Winneshiek County residents have cast absentee ballots in this year's Presidential election.

The impact of that figure is being felt at polling places in Decorah on Election Day Tuesday.  A survey of three polling places found the turnout was "steady," but down from 2016.

That's understandable, since the use of absentee ballots set a record this year.  Those ballots are being counted at the Winneshiek County Courthouse during the day Tuesday, then those results will be added to the results of votes cast on Tuesday.

decorahnews.com will provide live updates from the Winneshiek County Courthouse Tuesday night, first with the results of the absentee ballots, and then with results from today's balloting as the results come in.
