A special exhibit at Vesterheim is on display at the museum through Sunday, after which time it will close. This week is the last chance to see "Favorite Things," which showcases some of Vesterheim's rarely-seen objects, selected by the public, volunteers, members, staff, and a few prominent Norwegian Americans. Some objects have been chosen for their beauty, some for their compelling stories or family connections, and others are selected for deeply personal reasons.
A second exhibit, "Water," will remain on display through April. The exhibit explores the world's most essential natural resource as a source of survival, life, and livelihoods. Nineteen contemporary artists with Nordic 5 Arts have created works that respond to the theme of water.
Vesterheim's Main Building is currently open Thursday through Monday, 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The Museum Store is open daily from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. All other buildings are closed. Vesterheim's open status is subject to change at any time – check vesterheim.org before visiting.
