US Senator Charles Grassley bumps fists with Decorah resident Bob Topping
U.S. Senator Charles Grassley of Iowa will be making a total of 30 campaign stops across Iowa by Election Day on Tuesday. Saturday Grassley stopped at the Winneshiek County Republican Party headquarters on Water Street to address a crowd of around 35 people.
Grassley told the group he's making a lot of campaign stops because "a lot of Democratic money has been pouring in" to Iowa. Grassley's appearance was on behalf of the re-election campaign of Dorchester State Representative Michael Bergan, but Grassley also spent time talking about his fellow Iowa U.S. Senator, Joni Ernst. "I see her working," he told the group, then launched into what he called the "$120 million worth of lies" being told by Democrats in support of Teresa Greenfield, the Democratic Party candidate for U.S. Senate.
Before wrapping up his comments, Grassley talked about how he believes President Donald Trump's campaign slogan of "Promises Made, Promises Kept" is true. For instance, said Grassley, Trump has appointed three conservatives to openings on the US Supreme Court; he has moved the American Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem; and he has forced other NATO countries to increase their contributions to the organization. Grassley also mentioned the tax cut legislation the President got passed, the renegotiation of trade agreements with China and further construction on the wall between Mexico and the U.S.
Grassley closed his formal remarks by warning that if former Vice President Joe Biden is elected president, the radical left is in power--especially if Biden at any point cannot continue and Vice Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris is elected.
