A new ruling issued by the Iowa Utilities Board says it "will not revisit the Decorah municipalization vote, but (it) will require that information presented to communities concerning future rate increases be accurate, based on current expectations."
Alliant had proposed to the IUB that the utility would create a webpage on its existing website with information about proposed or approved rate increases. In its ruling, the IUB noted that "it is unclear whether the (Alliant) proposal would prevent situations similar to what happened during the Decorah municipalization vote." The Iowa Utilities Board said Alliant's proposal "is not consistent with the Board's requirement that (Alliant) ensure that information presented to communities considering any anticipated rate increases is accurate and current."
The ruling gives Alliant 30 days to file a revised proposal to ensure that information presented to communities considering anticipated rate changes is accurate and current. It also requires Alliant to file semiannual reports detailing its progress in reaching the 13 goals outlined in the document it wrote called "Customer Satisfaction and Stakeholder Engagement Plan."
