Winneshiek County's newest bridge should be completed by the end of this week. The new Chimney Rock Bridge has been built by Brennan Construction of Lansing. Brennan Construction crew members have moved out and Skyline Construction crews are finishing some dirt work this week.
While the new bridge should open soon, the old bridge will remain in its original location—at least for now. The old bridge will not be accessible to the public, however. County officials are warning the public they do not want anyone on it because the bridge is still deteriorating. At some point in the future, the county will have to remove the bridge, but, for now, it is standing in place.
