Information released about the special election for the Decorah City Council's 5th Ward position

Winneshiek County Auditor Ben Steines is announcing that people who want to run for the 5th Ward Decorah City Council seat in the December 8th election will need to meet a November 13th deadline.  By that date, candidates must file nominating petitions with at least 10 signatures from Ward 5 eligible electors, as well an Affidavit of Candidacy.

Absentee voting for this election will start as soon as possible after candidate filing when the ballots have been programmed and printed.  Voting on December 8th will be available at one polling station (yet to be determined) from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
