A proposed apartment complex on St. Lawrence Street in Decorah has been discussed by the City of Decorah since this spring. The 8-unit apartment won final approval last month and the issue seemed to be over.
But Monday night, the Decorah City Council approved a change order for the apartment complex—one that will reduce the number of apartments and the number of required parking spaces.
Neighbors of the proposed development had questioned whether an 8-unit apartment complex should be allowed on the location. The developers have responded by lowering the number of apartment units to seven. Since every apartment must have two parking spaces, that means the total number of parking spaces for the development will also be reduced, from 16 to 14.
The changes were approved unanimously by the Decorah City Council.
