A decorahnews.com reader e-mails: "I noticed that large numbers of people are camping in tents at the Will Baker Park athletic fields, along and very close to the forest edge. I'd estimate maybe 20 or so tents. Is there a special event going on, or is this some kind of 'overflow' from the campground? I noticed this around dusk and many campers had large campfires burning. Is this something the City is allowing?"
The Answer Person says: "Here's what Park-Rec Director Andy Nimrod has to say: 'The tents at Will Baker are overflow. As you know, we have had a huge increase in park usage numbers this summer, I'm not sure if it's COVID tourism-related or what. Regardless, the plan was a temporary solution. I'd like to get the Park Board engaged in discussion regarding long term plans, probably when they get a final report on the campground this winter. It's definitely going to be a record setting season at the campground!'"
