Quarry Street project in Decorah is making progress

Most of the attention on road projects this fall has been given to Locust Road.  But a nearby project on Quarry Street is also underway and making progress.

Crews are working to install a new storm sewer on Quarry Street, with construction occurring this week at the east end of the street.  The contractor on the project will work from east to west and connect to the existing storm sewer pipes on College Drive.

Because the area in the project is fairly flat, large arch pipes are being used instead of the regular circular pipes.  The arch pipe provides the same capacity as conventional pipe, but can be installed in areas where conditions require shallower installation.
