Northeast Iowa RC&D, on behalf of the Winneshiek County Soil and Water Conservation District, is submitting six flood control projects to the EPA for environmental review.  The projects carry a combined price tag of around $1.5 million, according to RC&D's Paul Berland.

The projects are part of the Upper Iowa River Flood Reduction Program, with four of the six projects involving the construction of water retaining ponds.

The projects will receive either 90 percent or 100 percent of costs reimbursed by the federal government if they are approved.
