How will a COVID-19 vaccine be distributed locally when it's ready?

There is still no vaccine for COVID-19, but local health officials have begun planning for how such a vaccine would be distributed once it's available.

Winneshiek County Public Health Director Krista Vanden Brink says her department has been told "we will have the majority of the vaccine."  In other words, it will be up to the County Health Department to distribute the vaccine to all the health care organizations which need it.

The distribution will have to be done according to federal guidelines—guidelines which have not yet been finalized.  However, as much as possible, county health workers have begun discussing the requirements of a vaccine distribution, in order that such an effort go smoothly once it does.
