There will be no 2021 Oneota Film Festival

The Board of Directors of the Oneota Film Festival is announcing they have cancelled the 2021 Oneota Film Festival.

The Board of Directors says it instead will plan the next Oneota Film Festival experience on the weekend of March 3rd through 7th in 2022.

A statement from the board says, "At this time, it appears that we cannot confidently provide a safe, relaxing experience for film-lovers; many who have supported us during the past 12 years. We are hopeful that in the next year, we will see vaccines and protocols that will make it possible to sit in a dark room with dozens of other film-lovers, viewing films about subjects that matter in our lives,  made by independent filmmakers."

Board members say their early decision was forced because October is the time of year that judges and board members would be deliberating over submitted films and searching for films and filmmakers to invite for the festival.

Concludes the statement, "See you in 2022!"
