Holiday Lights display at the Decorah Campground will be held this year

Posted: Tue, Oct 6, 2020 10:45 AM

The coronavirus epidemic has led to the cancellation of numerous community events in Decorah this year, but the 2020 Holiday Lights display won't be one of them.  That's because the event consists of holiday lighting displays that people can view while driving in their cars, trucks and SUVs.

Helping Services for Youth & Families sponsors the event, which will begin its 16th season on Wednesday, November 25th, at the Decorah Campground.

This year's event will be drive-thru only. The day before Thanksgiving--normally the day when the public can get a preview by walking through the campground--will now be a drive-thru night.  Said Helping Services' Director of Community Engagement, Ben Krouse-Gagne, "Due to the safety of guests we have made the decision to switch the walk-thru night to drive-thru only."

The 2020 Holiday Lights event will also be extended to run until Sunday, December 27th.  If you are interested in volunteering at Holiday Lights, call (563) 387-1720 or email info@helpingservices.org. For those unable to attend, donations can be made online at www.helpingservices.org/HolidayLights.
