The latest Iowa Crop Report says warmer and drier conditions last week helped the harvest across the state.
Farmers made the most of 6.4 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending September 27th, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service.
Corn was reported as being over two weeks ahead of the previous year and 3 days ahead of the 5-year average. Only 18% of the crop has yet to reach maturity. Corn condition rated 42 percent good to excellent.
Soybeans coloring or beyond advanced to 96 percent, which is two weeks ahead of last year and one week ahead of average. Soybean harvest is 30 percent complete, 19 days ahead of last year and 12 days ahead of average.
