A new book which has just been released describes the effect COVID-19 has had in this area. 30 writers, including Decorah Mayor Lorraine Borowski and Luther College President Jenifer K.Ward, have submitted essays for the book, titled "De-Isolation, Voices from a small town in the early days of COVID." The book is now available for $10 at the Luther Book Shop and Dragonfly Books in Decorah. All proceeds will benefit the Decorah Community Food Pantry.
The book is the result of an invitation issued this summer by Luther's Center for Ethics and Public Engagement for people to submit their essays, stories and poems, reflecting on a world with coronavirus.
"The project was intended to provide a forum for creative explorations of the event, how it challenged and changed us, and where we go from here," said Luther German professor Sören Steding, the project lead.
