Local childcare advocate appointed to national childcare board

Decorah childcare center owner Matt Tapscott has been elected to the National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC) Board of Directors.

Said NAFCC Executive Director Lanette Dumas, "Matt joins NAFCC at an exciting time for the family childcare setting as we continue to elevate the voices of the profession and build deeper relationships with our members."

Tapscott also serves as the President of the NAFCC Iowa Affiliate, Iowa Family Child Care Association, and served on the Iowa Childcare and Early Learning Task Force during the Tom Vilsack administration. Tapscott has been a longtime advocate for improvements in Iowa's childcare system.

Said Tapscott, "I am honored to provide a voice for childcare providers and the working parents we serve at a time high-quality childcare is being recognized nationally for the important economic issue it is."
