The Winneshiek County Auditor's Office is announcing that due to COVID19 concerns, poll worker availability, and building use policies, there will be eight polling places for the November 3rd General Election instead of 11.
Precincts 1, 4 and 11 will be combined, and voters will cast ballots at the county courthouse. These are voters that would normally vote at the courthouse and at North Winn School.
Precincts 5 and 6 will be combined, and voters will cast ballots at Good Shepherd Church. There are voters who would normally vote at either of two separate polling locations at Good Shepherd Church. These will be combined into one polling location held at the sanctuary end of the building.
Precincts that are not combined, with voters casting ballots at their normal locations are Precinct 2 at First Lutheran Church; Precinct 3 at Decorah City Hall; Precinct 7 at Calmar Lutheran Church; Precinct 8 at Ossian Community Center; Precinct 9 at Ridgeway Community Center; and Precinct 10 at Fort Atkinson Community Center.
Absentee voting will begin in-person and through the mail on October 5th. Voters that are voting in person on election day or early in the auditor's office are encouraged to bring their own blue or black pen to mark their ballots. All in-person voters are encouraged to wear a face covering and maintain at least 6 feet of social distance while waiting in line.
Satellite absentee voting will be available for Precincts 5 and 6, which includes Decorah Wards 4 and 5, Canoe Township, and the part of Decorah Township in Supervisor district 3. The absentee voting session will be hled on October 13th and October 21st from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. both days at Dahl Centennial Union on the Luther College campus.
