Ask the Answer Person: Will bricks from the Court Street project be available to the public?

Braden asks: "This may have already been mentioned, but I can't seem to find it.  If there are any bricks left over when all is said and done with the Court Street project, are those bricks going to be made available to the public for purchase or otherwise?"

The Answer Person says: "Here's what Decorah City Engineer Jeremy Bril has to say about this question: 'The reader's question is a popular one when we do work on Court Street! While not all of the bricks that get removed on this project will be reinstalled, we typically assume we will lose about one-third of those we remove due to poor condition or difficulty in removing them without damage. So it is hard to say how many we will have left over.  Even if we have some left over, we do not anticipate having any available for purchase as we will be stockpiling any extra for use on future Court Street projects. Our projects do not always generate excess bricks so when we have an opportunity to replenish our supply, we have to take advantage.'"
