Since the last update about the softball complex improvements, the Decorah School District has engaged in value engineering work with Emergent Architecture and Larson Construction. By doing so, the District will save close to $50,000 on the renovations by making small changes to the original design, like eliminating the lights that were planned for underneath the canopy.
The construction crews tore up concrete Monday, and they will plan to pour footings on Wednesday.
On Monday evening, Activities Director Adam Riley told the Decorah School Board, "Everything is off to a good start."
The project is expected to be completed in December, depending on a few things like temperatures and moisture levels that could impede certain parts of the renovation.
Riley continued, saying, "We've seen no reason why this shouldn't be done by next season."
