The following Letter to the Editor has been submitted by Joshua Hall of Waverly:
"I read something disturbing today--an article by a Judy from Ossian (http://www.decorahnews.com/news-stories/2020/09/26294.html) She thinks we should stay open. That's her belief, and she is entitled to that, I would agree, except she is saying we must take measures to be safe, but no one is doing that. I don't go many places, I have severe health issues that put me at very high risk. When I do go somewhere, I see very few masks if any at all.
What I find most disturbing is her H1N1 comment: 'How many people died of H1N1? COVID-19 is not as dangerous.' No, COVID-19 is categories higher in danger than H1N1 and made even more dangerous by the fact we have a president who has downplayed its severity and has said it's a Democratic Party hoax. I don't know how you think it's safe to reopen, and I can't believe you would give this woman space to disparage the lives lost in this pandemic.
Restaurants need to change tactics, isn't that what a free market is? Isn't that capitalism at its best? Why risk mine and my loved ones' lives so you can go out to eat? I miss it too, but I'm not willing to sacrifice family members for some enjoyment. This is the environment we live in right now, adapt or lose, simple."
