While paper facemasks used to prevent the spread of COVID-19 can be put in the garbage, just as any waste can, organizers of the Seamsters Union of Decorah are reminding the public that cloth masks made by the group should not be thrown away.
Seamsters Union organizer Shirley Vermace says the group's masks, "are of high quality cotton and can be washed in (washing) machines over and over again, thus saving the landfill from thousand of discarded disposable paper masks.
