The City of Decorah has agreed to sign a 15-year franchsie agreement with Alliant Energy.

Alliant Energy Director of Operations Marty Mensen said, "We are pleased to have reached a new 15-year franchise agreement with the City of Decorah. This agreement provides options and flexibility to the city and allows us to continue delivering safe, affordable and reliable services to customers while helping to build a stronger community.  We look forward to working closely with the city as we look at ways to improve the Decorah's streetlight system, as well as help identify locations for the electric vehicle chargers that we previously offered to the city."

Mensen also said Alliant wants to be a clean-energy partner with the City of Decorah, mentioning the utility's pledge to eliminate coal from its generation fleet by 2040 and the Decorah Battery project, among others.
