There were 27 new cases of COVID-19 reported in NE Iowa on Tuesday, bring the total of cases since March to 1,107.
Winneshiek County's total rose two to 246 cases; Allamakee County's total was 197, which was an increase of five; Clayton County was up two cases to 194; Fayette County went up three cases to 162; Howard County had two new cases for a total of 154; and Chickasaw's total of 151 total cases included eleven new cases.
Meanwhile, Winneshiek County Public Health Director Krista Vanden Brink reminded the public that the State of Iowa's reporting of COVID-19 cases sometimes lags local reporting. For instance, she said while the IDPH website showed Winneshiek County with 116 active COVID-19 cases over the weekend, that was based on considering anyone who had been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last 28 days as being recovering, while Winneshiek County has been using a 10-day standard. The county's way of computing shows 22 active cases as of Monday, although two new cases were added to that total on Tuesday.
Vanden Brink says the public can expect more new cases of COVID-19 as contact tracing continues and more people are tested.
