The challenges of COVID-19 have been felt in many activities—including political campaigns. State Assembly candidate Kayla Koether is using a "drive-in" format to meet with voters.
People attending stay in their cars while Koether is on stage on the bed of her pickup truck. Audience members tune to a special FM channel on their car radios in order to hear her talk. Attendees can share comments or questions by calling or texting Koether's cell phone number during the event.
Nine such events are being announced by Koehter's campaign, with five of them in Winneshiek County:
--3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 13th, at the Lake Meyer Park campground parking lot at 2546 Lake Meyer Road.
--7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 15th at Winneshiek Wildberry Winery parking lot at 1966 337th Street in Decorah
--7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 17th, at the Ft. Atkinson City Park on 150th Street.
--7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19th, at Will Baker Athletic Field parking lot on Pulpit Rock Road
--7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24th, at South Winneshiek Elementary/Middle School east side parking lot at 208 E. Brooks Street in Ossian
