Republican Congressional candidate Ashley Hinson makes a campaign swing through Winneshiek County.

Winneshiek County Republicans got a chance to meet Wednesday with Congressional candidate Ashley Hinson.  Hinson is a Marion resident who has represented the Cedar Rapids area in the Iowa Legislature since 2016.

On Wednesday, Hinson visited with employees at Hovden Oil in Ridgeway, then stopped at Mabe's Pizza in Decorah to meet with fellow Republicans at lunch.

Hinson tells decorahnews.com she would like to see the tax credits for small businesses which were passed by Congress in 2017 extended indefinitely.  The credits are currently set to expire in 2025.  Hinson says small businesses like Hovden Oil are debating whether to make long-term financial investments--not just for next year, but for ten years from now.

She says affordable healthcare is another of the key issues for her.  She says health insurance administrative costs have gotten too great in the last few years, especially for smaller doctor's offices.  She'd like to see greater transparency from drug companies on their prescription costs as well.

Hinson tells decorahnews.com she has learned many lessons from being in the Iowa Legislature, including having patience and being deliberate with the words you choose.

Hinson is running against Democrat Abby Finkenauer in Eastern Iowa's First Congressional District.

Hinson was joined at Mabe's by a dozen Winneshiek County Republicans
