Winneshiek Medical Center receives top rating for patient experience

Winneshiek Medical Center has received a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for patient experience.

Just 266 of 3,478 hospitals nationally achieved five stars for 2019 in the patient experience section of the CMS rating system.

The rating comes from a national survey that asks patients about their experiences during a recent hospital stay.  This survey is required by CMS for all hospitals in the United States.  The survey addresses communication with nurses and doctors, the responsiveness of hospital staff, the cleanliness and quietness of the hospital environment, communication about medicines, discharge information, overall rating of hospital, and would they recommend the hospital. The CMS rating reflects the responses from this survey.
