A White House coronavirus task force is recommending Iowa mandate face masks and close bars in 61 counties--including Winneshiek County and three other NE Iowa counties.
White House task force leader Dr. Deborah Birx has discussed the recommendations with Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and Iowa State Epidemiologist Dr. Caitlin Pedati.
The White House task force report also said bars should be closed in Winneshiek, Howard, Clayton and Chickasaw counties. It also recommend limiting social gathering to 25 or fewer people and closing gyms or limiting them to 25 percent of capacity.
Winneshiek County has had 221 confirmed cases of COIVD-19, with 136 of those cases coming in the last four weeks.
