At one point in time late last week, there were over 100 people in isolation in Winneshiek County who had tested positive for COVID-19.
Winneshiek County Public Health Director Krista Vanden Brink told county supervisors Monday the number has now declined to around 50 people.
30 of those in isolation are from Aase Haugen--22 residents and 8 staff members. 20 others are community members in isolation, says Vanden Brink.
She told county supervisors that ALL communities in Winneshiek County have had residents who tested positive for COVID-19--it is not confined to one community or another. She also told supervisors she's concerned that people are not wearing masks, washing their hands or socially distancing at events such as weddings, country club outings or trips to local restaurants.
Winneshiek County now has had 217 people who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, with three deaths, 113 people recovered and 111 people still in isolation, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health. The IDPH figures differ from those used by local health officials because of the differences in timing.
