Ask The Answer Person: ""How much room do we have to vote in the County Auditor's office?"

(Dave e-mails: "How much room do we have to vote in the auditor office and will we have to be 6 foot apart and is there a way to make a different spot that might have more space?"):

The Answer Person says: "County Auditor Ben Steines admits the Auditor's Office won't have a lot of room for voting when absentee ballots can be cast starting October 5th.  There will just be two voting stations inside the office, where there used to be several more--before COVID distancing requirements went into effect.

But Steines doesn't think this will lead to problems.  First of all, there are 6-foot apart spacing signs on the floor leading into the Auditor's Office and there's space in the Courthouse lobby for waiting to vote.

But Steines says he's also estimating that most people--perhaps as much as 90 percent--who cast an absentee ballot will do so by mail.  That would alleviate the crowding in the Auditor's Office."
