The Iowa Department of Public Health says Winneshiek County has had 208 positive cases of the coronavirus since mid-March, with 119 of those cases coming since August 3rd.

Of the 208 reported cases, 103 are still active, 104 have recovered and one patient has died.  The county is now at 15.2 percent of tests coming back as positive--over the 15 percent threshold where school districts can petition the State of Iowa to return to on-line teaching only.

Winneshiek County accounts for almost one-third of all active COVID-19 cases in the six northeasternmost counties in Iowa.  Allamakee County has had 172 cases, but only 25 are active; Clayton County has had 175 cases, of which 48 are still active.  Fayette County has had 136 cases, with 55 active cases now.  Chickasaw County is the only NE Iowa county still under 100 cases, with 98 cases, 20 of which are active.  Howard county has had 122 cases, with 66 of those cases still active.
