Winneshiek County has had 194 cases of the coronavirus since the outbreak began in mid-March. 95 of those people have recovered from the virus--but 98 people are still in recovery and one person has died.
In other words, more than half of all COVID-19 cases in the past six months are current cases of the coronavirus.
By comparison, Allamakee County has had 168 cases, but 140 of those people have recovered; Clayton County has had 170 cases, of which 114 have recovered; Fayette County has had 130 cases, but 76 have recovered; Chickasaw County has had just 89 cases and 75 have recovered; and Howard County has had 112 cases, with 51 people recovering.
Howard County's 61 patients still recovering from COVID-19 is the second-highest figure in the area--and in the state--while Chickasaw County has only 14 currently active cases.
