Winneshiek County Recycling Center's new director takes over the reins

Scott Logsdon is no stranger to the Winneshiek County Recycling Center. He has been assisting the public and processing incoming materials for over 9 years as a recycling assistant. But Logsdon is taking over the reins as the center's director as outgoing director Terry Buenzow relocates to Wisconsin.

Logsdon says, "I'm not sure if I'm more excited or scared about taking on this new role. Everyone has ideas of how to improve their process or their work place, and I'm looking forward to putting some of my ideas into practice. Trying new things is exciting, but wondering if they'll actually work is scary."

When asked where he sees the recycling center headed in the future, Logsdon says, "Hopefully we'll keep it on the path it's on. Our recycling facility has very smart and loyal participants. This community has always been very supportive." He continues, "Since the beginning, this facility has tried to be ahead of the curve. Trying to find new markets for new and different materials. I believe continuing these practices will help keep us on top."

A priority for Logsdon is to continue working closely with the Winneshiek County Landfill. "The more we can recycle, the longer our local landfill will last," says Logsdon.
