Letter to the Editor: Opponents of wearing masks use arguments "based in sand"

(The following Letter to the Editor has been submitted by Bob Puffer of Decorah):

"Our wonderful country has thrived for 250 years based on Constitutional law. James Madison and Alexander Hamilton didn't really want a Bill of Rights. They wanted all rights to be implicit unless restricted by state or local authorities. They settled on an "Enumerated Rights" approach--if a right was enumerated in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights, it could not be abridged by any other legal entity.

There is no enumerated right in the US Constitution or the Iowa Constitution preventing local governments from requiring people to wear masks at particular times unless there's a case of a medical requirement. I'd happily challenge those who claim their "rights" are being violated by being required to wear a mask to show credible evidence.  Their argument is based in sand."
