The latest report from the Iowa Department of Public Health is that there have been a total of 171 positive COVID-19 cases in Winneshiek County since March.
However, a majority of those positive cases--86--have been reported in August. Winneshiek County Public Health Director Krista Vanden Brink says the county has "a number of hot spots" right now, so there is no one major cause of the spike in cases.
Of the 171 total cases, 89 Winneshiek County residents have recovered from COVID-19, while one person has died. That means 81 of the 171 positive cases are currently recovering from the coronavirus in Winneshiek County.
