Posted: Mon, Aug 24, 2020 9:21 AM

Auditions for New Minowa Players children's show, "If I Were," will be held on Zoom at 6:00 p.m. Friday.

Parents who wish for their children to participate need to email the director, Rick Scheffert, at spiritofclaypottery@gmail.com to receive a link to the Zoom auditions. Any child in kindergarten through eighth grade is welcome to be in the show. All rehearsals will be on Zoom, and the performance will be a video, shared using YouTube.

Parents must participate in the beginning of the audition process. Any parent who wants their child to participate but is unable to join the Zoom auditions on Friday should contact the director to receive and share crucial information. All children who audition will be in the show. Auditions help the director make an informed decision in assigning parts.

Each child auditioning will be asked to sing a short song. "Happy Birthday" is a good choice, or anything of a similar length is appropriate. And, each child will be asked to read or recite a short monologue. The monologue "If I Were a Horse" is shared on the New Minowa Players website, www.newminowaplayers.org and will be emailed to everyone who is sent the Zoom link. It can be used, or something of a similar length can be chosen.

"If I Were" is a series of monologues with songs. The script was written by Rick Scheffert, with music and lyrics by Sheryl Scheffert. Rehearsals will begin Monday, August 31st. A schedule will be created in which actors will meet individually, via Zoom, with the director.

Questions or concerns about this process and this show should be directed to Rick Scheffert, director, at spiritofclaypottery@gmail.com or 563-379-5739.
