"Water and Wastewater Workers of Iowa Week" has just concluded, with local employees of the Decorah water and wastewater treatment department being recognized.
Decorah area resident Bob Watson, who has requested of the governor the proclamation each year since 2012, says "It is a known fact that a society with water and wastewater technology as the US has, extends the life expectancy of its citizens by 20 years. That is just one of the benefits of having water and wastewater workers doing their jobs."
The proclamation signed this year by Governor Kim Reynolds states, "their applied environmental science-based practices continue to be a vital element in improving the quality of life and preserving and protecting public health in our state and promoting sustainability in our way of living."
