With another summer weekend coming up, expect to see lots of campers again at the Lake Meyer Campground.
Winneshiek County Conservation Executive Director Barb Schroeder says campers "are coming from everywhere." Some of the campers are being sent to Lake Meyer by the City of Decorah's Pulpit Rock Campground when that campground is full. But outdoor activities like camping have seen a boom in popularity this year because they are safer activities during the COVID-19 epidemic.
Along those lines, Schroeder says older people have been less likely to use the Lake Meyer Campground this year. She guesses that's because they are staying home during the epidemic. But younger people have gone camping in large numbers, meaning weekends are busy at the campground.
