Black Hills Energy temporarily suspended nonpayment disconnections and late-payment charges as of March 16th. Now the utility is announcing it will resume its standard collection practices as of Monday, August 24th.
Black Hills Energy is encouraging customers to take advantage of any of several programs if they find themselves struggling to pay their utility bills. Budget billing sets an average amount for monthly bills. Payment arrangements provide extended payment terms. Black Hills Cares helps eligible residential customers pay their Black Hills Energy bills or emergency energy-related expenses. The program uses voluntary donations from employees and customers and then matches these contributions dollar for dollar. Additional assistance programs are available in certain areas.
