Winneshiek County Conservation has officially submitted an application for federal funds to help build the Dry Run Trail. In order to receive the grant, Winneshiek County Conservation would have to supply some of its own funds, but Director Barb Schroeder says such funds are now being held in reserve.
An early fall decision is expected on the grant application, with the Iowa DOT in charge of the decision. If the grant funding is approved, construction on the first segment of the trail would begin.
