(The following Letter to the Editor has been submitted by Becky and Peter Olafsen of rural Winneshiek County):
"It is election season, and there are important choices to make. In Iowa Senate District 28 the choice is simple. Vote for Matt Tapscott for, at least, these four reasons.
--He has the strength of a Marine because he was one.
--He has the heart of a caregiver because he is one, running a much sought after daycare in Decorah for several years. He serves as President of the Iowa Family Child Care Association and is a board member of the National Association of Family Child Care.
--He listens to opposing ideas. We have been through several campaigns with Matt. We have been on opposing sides in the primaries. He has listened to us and we have remained good friends throughout all these elections. He will listen to any idea or person as long as they are putting people first.
--He listens to the people he wants to represent. He has already made hundreds of calls to residents of the 28th Senate District. He answers questions from the people, and they like what they hear. He wants to make government work for the people of Iowa.
COVID has kept you from meeting Matt Tapscott face to face at gatherings or at your door. When you do get to meet him in person, you will see and hear his strength, his compassion, his open-mindedness, and his commitment to the people of Iowa. Exactly what you should want in an elected official."
