Iowa DNR reaches agreement with Allamakee County residents to make improvements to a creek near Effigy Mounds

The Iowa DNR announced Thursday it has reached a consent agreement with Allamakee County residents Brian and Steve Nelson involving land near Effigy Mounds.

The Iowa DNR has dropped any enforcement action after the Nelsons agreed to a complete restoration and stabilization of Dousman Creek.  The creek feeds into the Yellow River at Effigy Mounds.

Under the agreement, the Nelsons have agreed to a DNR-approved plan which also calls for the Nelsons to maintain, inspect, and make necessary improvements of the features and structures for five years.
