Dike Road construction continues

Construction continues on a new levee at Luther College.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency issued a new 100-year flood map in 2013 which took into account that there has been higher precipitation in recent years.  The new map led FEMA to recommend that Luther should add an average of two feet to its dikes.

When the project is completed, Luther College will be in compliance with FEMA standards, meaning the college won't have to pay higher insurance premiums for not meeting FEMA's criteria.
