Kristy e-mails: "Are there any hair salons in Decorah that not only require mask wearing by the stylists, but also require it for every customer getting their hair done? It seems that mask wearing is optional for customers in the few places I have checked."
We tackled this question last month, but that's an eternity in the age of COVID-19. Here's our update of the salons we were able to get in touch with:
Rootz at 220 West Water Street is owned by Amy, who wears a mask and is the only stylist right now.
The Salon at 217 East Water Street has Stacey McElree, Steph Perry and Danny--Danny wears a mask and Stacey and Steph will if asked. There are many signs strongly recommending clients wear a mask as well.
Appearances Salon at 205 East Broadway Street is owned by Brenda Sutton. She and her clients wear masks.
Hairloom Salon and Spa at 115 Winnegabo Street has its stylists wear masks while clients can choose to or not. Disposable masks are available at the salon or clients may bring in their own.
The stylists at Main Event Hairstyling at 215 East Water Street wear masks if asked by clients to wear one. In response to COVID-19, the stylists only allow one client at a time at each of the hair styling stations and spread out appointments.
Shear Wonders at 213 East Water Street doesn't require masks but face coverings are strongly recommended.
