A Mason City museum will send its traveling exhibit bus to Decorah next Thursday, August 13th. TRACES Center for History & Culture will park its bus in the Lower Co-op parking lot in the morning, then will open to visitors from noon until 8:00 p.m.
Museum representatives say their historical exhibits will be mounted on three sides of their bus. The exhibit includes information about how Luther College handled the global pandemic of 1918. The bus has already toured several Midwestern cities, including Milwaukee, Green Bay and Madison. It will visit Davenport and Ames later this summer.
Visitors start at one corner of the bus and walk in one direction to see the exhibits. Museum representatives say COVID-19 precautions will be taken.
Decorah residents Birgitta Meade and Marguerite Meade will be on hand to help with the exhibit. The appearance is sponsored by the Decorah Genealogy Association.
