County supervisors want to wait for Board of Health vote before weighing in on mask wearing

Decorah Mayor Lorraine Borowski appeared before county supervisors Monday morning to ask them to support  a resolution approved by the Winneshiek County Coalition of Mayors which recommends wearing masks.

The resolution reads, in part, "By coming together as a community, we can all do our part to 'flatten the curve'."  It recommends that Winneshiek County residents wear a face mask or covering when inside a business or in a crowded area; practice social distancing; and wash hands often.

Winneshiek County Supervisor Mark Kuhn said it's a matter of "giving each other mutual respect."  But Kuhn and the other supervisors agreed with supervisor Dean Thompson, who said, "I'm waiting on the (County) Board of Health."

That group will meet Wednesday afternoon to consider a resolution urging the wearing of masks.  County supervisors tabled any action on the mayors' resolution until after the County Board of Health meeting.
