(The following Letter to the Editor is submitted by John Carver of Decorah):
"One of the oldest reasons on record was using the mask to cover an unattractive face. But more likely it was used in the robbery business. The wild wild West used it as a cover up. In fact, it still carries over to today's world. It's hard to deny the effectiveness of hiding the face. Is it a smile or frown? Who really is it? Can't tell!
Now we have a new use for it. And it's called 'save us from the pandemic.' Those who don't use it can't prove that it doesn't work. Those who do use it can access the scientific proof that it does work. Have you ever seen surgeons and assistants operating without a mask? Nope! That should give you comfort to save yourself from harm.
Take the hint. Cover up and hide to avoid the unattractive virus. Rob it from hurting you and save others."
